Dryer Knob Replacement, Timer and Cycle Knobs Rebuilt
Timer knobs, cycle selectors, and temperature knobs for dryers whose maker stopped selling the part, rebuilt from the broken original.
Can you make a dryer knob that is not sold anymore?
Yes. Mail us the knob, even if the shaft section snapped off inside it, and we rebuild it with a fresh D bore that grips the timer shaft again. A dryer knob counts as a simple part, from $95 with the design and a spare included. In metro Atlanta we can pick it up instead.
Our D shaft knob case page shows how we size the bore so it prints to a snug fit on the shaft.
What actually fails
Most dryer knobs do not crack on the outside. The thin plastic sleeve that wraps the D shaped timer shaft splits from years of twisting, and the knob starts to slip, then spins freely. On many models a small metal spring clip sits in that sleeve to keep the grip tight, and once the plastic around it splits the clip falls out.
The fix is not a sturdier copy of the same thin sleeve. We thicken the wall around the bore where the space behind the panel allows it, and either reuse your spring clip or design the bore to grip on its own.
What people send us
Timer knobs that spin
The classic failure. The knob turns but the cycle does not move, because the sleeve split.
Knobs with the shaft broken off inside
Send the knob with the broken piece still stuck in it, that piece tells us the exact bore.
Push to start knobs
Knobs that pull out or push in to start the cycle, matched for travel as well as fit.
Washer and dryer pairs
Matching knobs for the washer on the same pedestal, so both machines look the same.
The right material for this part
| Use | Material | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Timer and cycle knobs | Polycarbonate | Stays rigid when the laundry room is hot and holds a tight bore for years. |
| Knobs that take a lot of force | Nylon | Slightly flexible, so the sleeve flexes over the shaft instead of splitting. |
| Pointer and markings | Paint fill | Recessed pointers and arrows filled with paint so they read like the original. |
What we will not make
We do not make timers, switches, door latches, lint housings, or any part in the heating or gas path of a dryer. Brand names describe fit only.
Every part we rebuild from your original ships with a spare and is remade once at no charge if it does not fit.
How a dryer knob job goes
Tell us the brand and model number from the label inside the door, and send a photo of the knob and of the bare shaft. Mail the knob with any broken piece of shaft still inside it. We measure the shaft and the flat, model a stronger bore, print it, and test the grip before it ships with a spare.
If the timer shaft itself is broken, that is a timer problem, not a knob problem, and we tell you so before you pay for anything.
